Notes
The 60 countries and territories named in the Ministry of Interior notification published in the Royal Gazette on 31 August 2026 (Vol. 143, Special Issue 207 Ngor, pp. 31-34), in force since 15 September 2026. The notification was read directly on 2026-09-16 and this list matches it exactly, position by position, with no residue in either direction — settling the earlier "TAT says 59, the list runs to 60" discrepancy in favour of 60. Its heading is เพื่อการท่องเที่ยว, tourism, where the repealed notification read tourism, work or short-term business, so the narrowing of purpose is in the instrument. ข้อ ๓ scopes the two-entries-per-calendar-year limit to land-border checkpoints and exempts Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia and Singapore. Six countries were added to the 54 this bucket carried before September: Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, India, Maldives and Malta. India was in the Cabinet proposal's visa-on-arrival group in May 2026 and was moved up to the 30-day exemption in the enacted version, which is why the visa-on-arrival list has three names rather than four. Kyrgyzstan moved the other way and is an upgrade: it was on the repealed visa-on-arrival list and is in the enacted 60.

Special rules & exceptions

  • The exemption covers tourism. The previous scheme also covered work and short-term business engagements and allowed 60 days; it was repealed on 15 September 2026.
  • Travellers admitted before 15 September 2026 keep the period of stay they were granted on arrival. A 60-day stamp issued on 14 September is not shortened.
  • One extension of up to 30 days may be applied for at an immigration office.
  • Entries through land-border immigration checkpoints under this exemption are limited to two per calendar year. The limit does not apply to nationals of Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia and Singapore, or to other nationalities designated by the Minister. Arrivals by air are not capped.
  • Any paid work, including remote employment inside Thailand, requires a work permit.
