- The 60 countries and territories named in the Ministry of Interior notification published in the Royal Gazette on 31 August 2026 (Vol. 143, Special Issue 207 Ngor), in force 15 September 2026. Six were added to the 54 this bucket previously carried: Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, India, Maldives and Malta. All six already hold a 60-day exemption today under the MFA ผ.60 list, so the bucket is accurate on both sides of 15 September — it understates the stay until then rather than overstating it. This table previously routed those six to the eVisa catch-all, which overstated what they need both before and after 15 September. TAT's article of 1 September 2026 scopes the two-entries-per-calendar-year limit to land-border immigration checkpoints; arrivals by air are not capped. India was in the Cabinet proposal's visa-on-arrival group in May 2026 and was moved up to the 30-day exemption in the enacted version, which is why the visa-on-arrival list has three names rather than four.
Special rules & exceptions
- Until 14 September 2026 the outgoing scheme still applies to these nationalities: up to 60 days, for tourism and short-term business engagements. From 15 September 2026 the stay is 30 days and the exemption covers tourism only.
- Travellers admitted before 15 September 2026 keep the period of stay they were granted on arrival. A 60-day stamp issued on 14 September is not shortened.
- One extension of up to 30 days may be applied for at an immigration office.
- From 15 September 2026, entries through land-border immigration checkpoints under this exemption are limited to two per calendar year. The limit does not apply to nationals of Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia and Singapore, or to other nationalities designated by the Minister. Arrivals by air are not capped.
- Any paid work, including remote employment inside Thailand, requires a work permit.
